Konami Comments On MGS V: The Phantom Pain Release Date Is Feb 24 Rumor, says “PlaceHolder/Wrong Date”
Last week, multiple retailers and Microsoft Store listed “February 24, 2015” as release date of upcoming MGS game, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. The date spread like a wild fire (as the date falls on Tuesday i.e. the day when most games releases in North America) and Metal Gear Solid series fans were took it a legit and expected Hideo Kojima to make an official announcement pretty soon. Sadly, this “February 24” has been confirmed to be as a “Placeholder”, according to Konami’s ToraShiro.
ToraShiro made the announcement via NeoGaf. Here is the exact quote of ToraShiro:
“When I woke up this morning I certainly didn’t want to come in and smash people’s dreams. That’s not why I’m here. But I’m also trying to fulfill my duty (heh) of being honest and as straightforward as possible with fans. “
He further added:
“Wish they hadn’t posted a date (especially a wrong date), but here we are. If anything I hope people realize that they should be wary when a retailer posts an unverified date unless corroborated by a publisher.”
